The Red Bulls’ penchant for blowing late leads on the road has now infested their home. And on Saturday, they flushed a chance to move into first place by coughing up yet another two-goal cushion against arch-rival D.C. United.
They dropped two points at home and settled for a 2-2 draw that felt more like a loss, booed by the 20,086 vexed fans at Red Bull Arena.
“It’s unacceptable. It’s rubbish,’’ said striker Bradley Wright-Phillips, who scored his MLS-leading 18th goal but found no solace after his team wasted a golden opportunity to move into a tie atop the Eastern Conference.
