For the third time in four matches, the Red Bulls could not do enough over 90 minutes to earn a victory.
Forward Diego Fagundez scored the lone goal in a 1-0 Revolution victory with a tally off a cross from former Red Bulls forward Juan Agudelo in the 55th minute.
But instead of wilting after the opening score, the Red Bulls persevered and almost found themselves an equalizer. The Red Bulls had multiple scoring chances in the second half behind forward Bradley Wright-Phillips, who has scored 44 goals over the past two seasons.
“We had fight, our team stuck together, had confidence even with a man down, played quite well to one of the better teams,” Red Bulls coach Jesse Marsch said after the match.
