Miserable, uninspired Red Bulls sent staggering into postseason

The bell at Stade Saputo rang and rang and rang, haunting and taunting the New York Red Bulls, who were drubbed by the Montreal Impact on Sunday night, 3-0.

With his first contribution at Providence Park on Sept. 18, Kyle Duncan was the genesis of rekindled hope. After pulling up with a hamstring injury in the lead-up to Montreal’s first goal in the 23rd minute, his potentially last gasp on the field this season may have been the end to that very optimism.
