The New York Red Bulls squeaked out a 1-0 win on the road at BC Place against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday night, notching their first ever MLS victory against the Cascadia club.
The Whitecaps had the majority of the quality chances in the first half, as Erik Hurtado barely missed the back of the net on two of his three attempts. The opening stanza also featured 52 duels, with the ‘Caps winning 25 and the Red Bulls 27.
Vancouver head coach Carl Robinson was ejected just before the first half closed, illuminating the intensity of the contest.
