MATCH RECAP: Red Bulls U-23s Fall In First Round of Open Cup

QUEENS, N.Y. (May 11, 2016) – The New York Red Bulls Under-23 team fell to New York Pancyprian Freedoms, 2-1 in the first round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday night at Belson Stadium on the campus of St. John’s University.

Zach Knudson gave the Red Bulls an early lead, but Pancyprian Freedoms would score twice in the second half.

The Red Bulls were awarded a penalty in the 14th minute, after Knudson was tripped up trying to take a touch around the goalkeeper. Knudson had been played through the defense on a flicked pass from Arun Basuljevic.
