On Saturday, New York Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles is set to become the league’s all-time leader in consecutive appearances with 142.
Robles will break Chris Klien’s record of 141 consecutive appearances, which he tied against Atlanta United FC on Sunday night.
Red Bulls Head Coach Jesse Marsch said Robles’ record speaks to who he is as a person as well as a goalkeeper.
“He just has an inner strength and steadiness that I think is great to have in a goalkeeper as a quality,” Marsch said. “And I think it’s meant that that, along with the preparation and physical work he puts in the gym and physically how he manages himself has meant that he’s given himself an opportunity to be successful day after day.
