Sacha Kljestan said the Red Bulls struggled in the final third and their finishing wasn't good enough in Leg 1 of the Eastern Conference Playoffs.
But, he said, New York will stick to their guns and play their game in Leg 2.
"We know we’re going to be at home, we’re going to be comfortable, confident and we’re going to go after them and try to get an early goal," the midfielder said.
New York and Montreal face off in Leg 2 on November 6 at Red Bull Arena. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
"It’s just halftime basically, they’ve won the first leg but they haven’t won the series," Kljestan said.
