The last time Red Bull Global Head of Soccer, Oliver Mintzlaff, showed up at New York Red Bulls’ practice, the team was 1-6 and couldn’t buy a win. But he stuck with the plan, stuck with coach Jesse Marsch — and his belief has been rewarded.
When Mintzlaff made a return trip this week, Marsch was given a long-term extension and he saw a team on a four-game winning streak — including Wednesday’s 1-0 fourth-round U.S. Open Cup win over the Rochester Rhinos — going into Sunday’s game versus visiting Seattle (7:30 p.m., FS1).
