As of writing, the New York Red Bulls are enjoying the best soccer they’ve played all year. Two wins in the U.S. Open Cup and three wins in MLS have the team riding high.
But if there’s one team that has made a hobby out of killing the Red Bulls’ momentum it’s the Montreal Impact.
The Canadian outfit eliminated RBNY from the MLS Cup playoffs last season, after which Ignacio Piatti mocked the Red Bulls’ lack of mental toughness. Earlier this season, Montreal continued their domination over the Red Bulls with a 1-0 win at Saputo Stadium.
