Alexis Lafrenière was under heavy criticism during this recent offseason. Lafrenière signed a seven-year, $52.15M contract during the beginning of the 2024-25 season where he was on fire with seven points in the teams first seven games. However after that deal was signed, the former first overall pick had 32 points in 75 games; under a half point per game pace.
So, heading into this season expectations were that he would bounce back and return to that late 2023-24 form. But things didn't go quite as well as anyone would have wanted for him and everyone on the team.
