The New York Rangers Place Sean Day on Waivers

The New York Rangers have placed defenseman Sean Day on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract, according to Cap Friendly. Day had split time in the shortened 2019-20 season between Hartford of the AHL and the Maine Mariners of the ECHL. He was the 81st pick in the 2016 NHL Draft by the Rangers.

Day was one of only a select few that was granted “exceptional” status in the CHL and allowed to play at a younger age. He had never lived up to that reputation in the Rangers’ organization and had fallen down their depth chart.
