The Rangers play the first of three — hard to believe, given Detroit’s now an Eastern Conference opponent — against the Red Wings over the final 24 games.
The Rangers remain without Ryan McDonagh (jaw/neck) and Rick Nash (deep bone bruise). Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said McDonagh’s CT scan came back negative Saturday afternoon, as had his concussion test early Saturday. No update on Nash, who is doing off-ice workouts and is week-to-week.
Marek Hrivik, called up from Hartford (AHL) makes his NHL debut at age 24, on the fourth line with Dominic Moore and Tanner Glass, with some penalty killing duty, in place of Daniel Paille, who cleared waivers and was assigned to Hartford Sunday.
