Rangers trim roster to 27, have four more cuts to make

The Rangers reduced their training camp roster to 27 on Sunday, leaving them with four more cuts to make to get to the 23-man roster by opening night Oct. 13.

The Rangers assigned five players – defensemen Matthew Robertson and Braden Schneider, forward Lauri Pajuniemi and goaltenders Tyler Wall and Adam Huska – to AHL Hartford, and sent forward Will Cuylle back to his junior team, Windsor of the OHL.

In addition, rugged forward Mason Geertsen was claimed off waivers by the Devils, and the Rangers placed forward Greg McKegg on waivers Sunday. If he clears waivers Monday, he could then be assigned to Hartford.
