Rangers trading Kevin Hayes to Jets as fire sale continues

The Rangers are not wasting time on trade-deadline day.

The sell-off continued Monday, two days after they dealt Mats Zuccarello, as the Rangers have an agreement in place to ship forward Kevin Hayes to Winnipeg, according to TSN. The reported return, which is not final, would be a Jets 2019 first-round pick, 22-year-old forward Brendan Lemieux and a conditional pick.

This was Hayes’ fifth year on Broadway, and the 26-year-old is set to be a free agent at the season’s conclusion. The young Rangers, out of the playoff mix, have been trying to cash in any experienced players of value.
