Rangers take step backward in loss to Blues

Sports

ST. LOUIS — The Rangers arrived at Enterprise Center on Saturday feeling good about their play over the last week.

The reigning Stanley Cup champs quickly put an end to that.

The Rangers’ defense went missing and the Blues took advantage, running away with a 5-2 win Saturday night.

Getting his first action in nine days, Henrik Lundqvist made 24 saves and did not get much help in front of him. He faced just 29 shots — compared to some of the high-volume onslaughts the Rangers (21-19-4) have allowed this season — but got left out to dry on multiple occasions.
