The Rangers continue with their flurry of cheap signings, adding defenseman Connor Mackey to a one year contract at $775k. The 24 year old undrafted free agent was with Calgary and Arizona last year, playing in 30 games putting up 3 goals and 4 assists in that span. Apparently this signing was done a while ago, but, you know, Twitter.
Mackey is likely going to give Zac Jones some level of competition for the 6D spot, but it’s more likely he’s a buffer between an injury and Ben Harpur getting regular minutes.
