Rangers' Sammy Blais out for season with knee injury

Forward Sammy Blais was placed on injured reserve by the Rangers Tuesday and is finished for the season after he reportedly suffered a torn ACL in Sunday’s 4-3 shootout victory over the Devils. The team said Blais is expected to be out 6-8 months.

"Obviously he's done for the year,’’ Rangers coach Gerard Gallant said. "Not good news for us. Disappointing. Tough. But you know, it happens. You’ve got to move on. So, there’s not much I can do. I just feel for the kid. It's a tough injury.’’

Blais was injured early in the third period Sunday when he went to the corner boards for a loose puck with Devils defenseman P.
