The Rangers immediately put out their statements after news broke late yesterday Marc Staal was traded to Detroit. For the players it was an extremely somber day and they reacted as such on social media.

Tony DeAngelo was the first to react with a sad face emoji on Twitter. On an earlier episode of the “Watch Your Tone” podcast, he talked about his respect for Staal. “My nickname for him is “Lege” for Legend, because he’s a beauty.”
“He’s a great guy that has done everything (in this league),” Tony also said of the veteran.
