Rangers recall Marek Hrivik for Sunday's game vs. Red Wings

The Rangers recalled forward Marek Hrivik from the Hartford Wolf Pack on Sunday at noon to make his NHL debut in the night's home game against the Detroit Red Wings.

Hrivik, 24, is a forward with a big frame and skating ability who GM Jeff Gorton and coach Alain Vigneault are hoping can help their ailing forward depth and penalty kill.

The team released veteran winger Daniel Paille on Saturday less than a month after signing him for those needs. It was the second failed experiment to upgrade the 28th-ranked penalty kill following the December release of Jarret Stoll, who had been signed in the offseason.
