OTTAWA, Ontario — Maybe it wasn’t Philadelphia, but it wasn’t much better.

The Rangers put forth a putrid effort on Thursday night, losing to the Senators, 3-0, at Canadian Tire Center. It was the first shutout this season for Ottawa goalie Craig Anderson, who might not have broken a sweat.

The most recent time the Rangers had been on the road, at Philadelphia the day after Thanksgiving, they played a game coach David Quinn called “a stinker.
