Rangers fall to Penguins in shootout

Tony DeAngelo served his time, and was back in the lineup Friday when the Rangers went on the road for the first time this season to Pittsburgh to play the Penguins. And the 25-year-old defenseman had a chance to play hero in his return.

But DeAngelo, taking the last shot in the shootout, and needing to score to keep the game going, couldn’t come through. DeAngelo went straight up the middle and tried a number of fakes but couldn’t get the puck past Pittsburgh goalie Tristan Jarry, and the Rangers started their four-game trip off with a 4-3 shootout loss that had the makings of a win.
