Rangers fall to Flames as inconsistency remains an issue

CALGARY, Alberta — Still, just a little too loose.

The Rangers opened the new calendar year by trying to tighten things up, trying to play consistent defense, trying to keep the offensive pressure a constant.

But consistency remains their defining characteristic, and they started 2020 with a loss.

The Blueshirts dropped a 4-3 game to the Flames on Thursday night, once again a wild start digging themselves into a hole that was too big for them to climb out.
