Rangers Agree to Terms With Tommy Hughes

New York Rangers General Manager Jeff Gorton announced today that the team has agreed to terms with restricted free agent defenseman Tommy Hughes on a new contract.

Hughes, 24, skated in 59 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL) this past season, registering two goals and seven assists for nine points, along with 48 penalty minutes. He tied AHL career-highs in goals, assists, and points in 2015-16. Hughes tallied a shorthanded goal and recorded two shots on goal on October 18, 2015 vs. Syracuse. In addition, he registered a “Gordie Howe Hat Trick” on February 5, 2016 at Portland, recording a goal, an assist, and a fight in the contest.
