The NY Rangers prospect system ranking from Corey Pronman will surprise folks, but that’s what adding Gabe Perreault does. The Rangers come in at #15, just above the 50% mark, in Pronman’s rankings this year, and that is definitely a surprise and perhaps a bit of a reach. Pronman’s rankings include anyone under the age of 23, so Alexis Lafreniere and Kaapo Kakko still count, which definitely inflates their ranking as well.
Perreault comes in at #3 in the overall system ranking, behind both Lafreniere and Kakko, respectively. This checks out, since he was a top-15 pick that fell all the way to the Rangers at #23, and was a small coup by the Rangers landing him there.
