New York Rangers: Trouba acquisition means tough decisions ahead

A week ago the New York Rangers acquired defenseman Jacob Trouba from the Winnipeg Jets. To obtain the 25-year old Trouba, Rangers General Manager Jeff Gorton sent Neal Pionk and returned the first round draft pick the Rangers received from the Jets in the Kevin Hayes trade this past February. The acquisition of Trouba provides the Rangers a top pair right shot defenseman but also doesn’t solve the crowded blue line while creating a significant impact upon Rangers salary cap.

The Rangers have long coveted Trouba, a workhouse for the Jets, he logged over 23 minutes a game and was often matched up against the best players across the ice.
