New York Rangers: Three reasons to be excited for a rebuilding season

The Alain Vigneault era came to an anticlimactic conclusion this past April. After five years and two trips to the Eastern Conference Finals as well as a Stanley Cup final appearance, Vigneault proved himself unable to adapt to a changing roster. Without established veterans to guide the team along, Vigneault’s weaknesses as a coach were amplified to an unsustainable level. The Rangers were an absolute disaster this past season and a significant part of the blame can be placed on the team’s now former head coach.

The Rangers were the last team to hire a head coach, and it was clear that the team’s front office has had its eye on David Quinn for some time.
