New York Rangers: Second and third round picks show promise

The New York Rangers have to be happy with their second and third round picks. All three players had been projected by some experts to go earlier in the draft. None of them are NHL-ready and will require some more time in junior, college or European hockey before they will be ready to make the move to the big leagues.

Pick # 49 – Matthew Robertson, Defense

With the 49th pick overall, acquired in the Mats Zuccarello trade with Dallas the Rangers selected defenseman Matthew Robertson. He’s the top defenseman for Edmonton in the WHL. He had seven goals and 26 assists for 33 points in 52 games.
