New York Rangers officially hire David Quinn as head coach

On Tuesday afternoon, the New York Rangers filled their vacant head coaching position by officially announced the hiring of Boston University head hockey coach David Quinn. Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reported last week that the Rangers offered Quinn the job.

Quinn, 51, recorded a 105–67–21 record over five years as head coach of the Terriers. Quinn was an associate coach under the legendary Jack Parker from 2004-2009. He was then hired to coach the AHL’s Lake Eerie Monsters from 2009-2012. He would make a one year stop in Colorado with the Avalanche as an assistant coach to Joe Sacco before returning to BU in 2013.
