The fiercely competitive Metropolitan Division is currently a blood bath amongst Stanley Cup favorites like the Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals and Columbus Blue Jackets. However, inexplicably, the New York Islanders are firmly in the mix for a playoff spot despite having the least talented roster of the four contenders. The New York Rangers should be taking diligent notes.

Even though Lou Lamoriello operates like he’s a hockey executive in the 1980s, there’s no denying the success that he produces. Whether it be building a dynasty with the New Jersey Devils through a defense around goaltender Martin Brodeur, getting the Toronto Maple Leafs on the right track through the draft and player development, Lamoriello gets results.
