The New York Rangers started the season with a surplus of defensemen. Every game, two had to sit and for the last six games, Tony DeAngelo has been the designated healthy scratch. Fredrik Claesson is on injured reserve for another two to three weeks with an upper body injury and Adam McQuaid has been playing regularly in his stead. Now, McQuaid has sustained an injury and if he isn’t ready to go that means DeAngelo will see action again.
Coach David Quinn has said that DeAngelo is making progress, but he “needs to be better in practice.” Well, it looks like he may not have the opportunity and will have to show that progress in real games.
