The New York Rangers saw another game slip away from them. Despite the best efforts of Ondrej Pavelec, the Vegas Golden Knights won, 2-1, on goals from James Neal and William Karlsson. Mika Zibanejad scored the lone goal for New York.
In what is rapidly becoming a consistent theme for the Rangers, the team got outplayed for long stretches of the game. Only another tremendous goaltending effort, this time by backup Ondrej Pavelec, kept the game close.
Zibanejad opened the scoring at 13:05 of the first period. A pretty breakout sequence led to a clean zone entry, and Zibanejad fired a wrist shot past Marc-Andre Fleury.
