The New York Rangers made many smart free agent moves this offseason. Rangers’ general manager Jeff Gorton made it his number one goal to really shore up the defense after it was the deciding factor in too many losing efforts. Gorton brought in NHL veteran Kevin Shattenkirk, NCAA starlet Neal Pionk, and KHL standout Alexei Bereglazov.

Bereglazov makes his way to North America after just two full seasons in the KHL. The 23-year-old defenseman made his name as a smooth skating defensive defenseman. He has a strong chance to make the team this season.

Although the KHL is only the second best league in the world, Bereglazov still has the most experience of any Rangers’ rookie.
