Motte Departure Hurts the New York Rangers Less With Vesey Here

As of this writing, it seems that fan favorite, Tyler Motte, won’t be re-signing with the Rangers before July 1st, which will make him an unrestricted free agent. This would be the second time in two years that the Rangers and Motte can’t come to an agreement and he walks into free agency. While the door isn’t shut on a possible reunion, Motte wants to test the market and see what’s available since this free agent class is lackluster and other teams might be willing to overpay for his services.

While his departure would leave a hole in the Rangers’ bottom six, it won’t be as bad as last season when he left because the Rangers already have a player under contract who plays a very similar game to Motte.
