Islanders Cruise Past Rangers 5-2

After a semi-strong first period, the Rangers faltered the rest of the way, as they fell to the New York Islanders 5-2 at Webster Arena, located in Bridgeport, CT. Here’s what stood out.

Sloppy Defense/Penalty Kill: Although both teams racked up 17 penalty minutes, the Rangers gave up 2 power play goals, compared to the Islanders, who only gave up one. The PK units were sloppy all around as Josh Bailey and Anders Lee walked all over the Ranger defense with PPG’s of their own. Anthony Beauvillier powered through both John Gilmour and Kevin Shattenkirk to wrist one past Dustin Tokarski to add onto the lead, as the Ranger defense was putrid for most of the evening.
