In December of 2024, Kaapo Kakko was traded away by Rangers GM Chris Drury to the Seattle Kraken. He has since recorded career highs and agreed to a three-year contract with Seattle as of Wednesday.
In exchange, the Rangers received defenseman WIll Borgen and a third and sixth round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. The former No. 2 pick by the Rangers in 2019 went on to record a career-high of 44 points across 79 regular-season games between his time in 2024-25 with the Rangers and the Seattle Kraken.
