On this date in 1941 the New York Rangers played the first game in franchise history in the borough of Brooklyn as they took on the Brooklyn Americans and won 5-3. Only they didn’t. And World War II was to blame.
The fact is the Rangers played the Brooklyn Americans at Madison Square Garden as the away team.
