After 16 seasons, defenseman Keith Yandle retires as NHL's all-time leader in consecutive games

Veteran defenseman Keith Yandle said Tuesday he is retiring after 16 seasons in the NHL.

Yandle became the NHL's all-time Iron Man last season, extending his consecutive-games streak to 989 before the Philadelphia Flyers scratched him late in the year. The 36-year-old blueliner also played for Arizona Coyotes, New York Rangers and Florida Panthers.

"The last year it's one of those things I've been thinking about," Yandle said on the "Spittin' Chiclets" podcast. "When that's all you know in your life, to call it quits on it, to call it an end, it's nerve wracking.
