Zack Wheeler resumes throwing without issue

WASHINGTON -- After dodging a scare, New York Mets right-hander Zack Wheeler resumed throwing on Monday at the team's complex in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Wheeler received a cortisone injection last Wednesday at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. He had been complaining of elbow discomfort as he was poised to begin pitching against minor leaguers for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery on March 24, 2015.

There had been concern Wheeler had done serious damage to his surgically repair elbow, such as popping the pronator. Instead, team doctors were ecstatic with the shape of Wheeler's Tommy John surgery repair.
