Zack Scott will take over as New York Mets acting GM

Zack Scott was a finalist for the general manager job before the New York Mets decided to go with Jared Porter instead. Scott was hired as an assistant GM and was going to help run the team’s analytics department. Now, Scott will be taking over as the GM and working closely with team president Sandy Alderson.

“Zack has plenty of championship experience to draw upon,” said Mets President Sandy Alderson in a team statement. “He has been an integral part of our decision-making processes since his arrival. The entire baseball operations staff, including myself, will continue to work collaboratively.
