Yoenis Cespedes’ return to the Mets lineup is on track.
The two-time All-Star, who has been out since May 13 with a hip flexor and quadriceps strain, played in the scheduled five innings in a simulated game in Port St. Lucie on Monday, the Mets announced. Through seven plate appearances, the 32-year-old hit two home runs and a single. He also walked once and struck out once while registering two putouts in left field.
Cespedes returned to baseball activities last week, as the Mets attempt to ease the outfielder back into play while limiting the strain on his lower body.
