Yoenis Cespedes’ brother seeks MLB free agency after defecting from Cuba

Yoenis might not be the only Cespedes in MLB soon.

Yoelkis, his half-brother, has deserted the Cuban National Team participating in the Can-Am League, according to MLB.com.

Yoelkis, 21, is expected to attempt to seek a contract with a major league team as a free agent. He will be subject to international signing rules, as he is under 25 with fewer than six seasons as a professional.

A center fielder considered to possess all five tools, per MLB.com, Yoelkis could be widely sought if and when he hits free agency. He gained attention online two years ago for a highlight-reel catch coupled with a strong throw to first base to double off a runner.
