CHICAGO — Buddy Carlyle is the latest hurting Mets reliever.
The right-hander, who had recently been bothered by a tight hamstring, felt back spasms while covering first base in the seventh inning of the Mets’ 4-3 loss to the Cubs.
Manager Terry Collins had planned to use Carlyle for the eighth, but instead turned to Erik Goeddel.
“My back kind of locked up a little bit,” Carlyle said.
As it stands, the Mets have relievers Jerry Blevins, Bobby Parnell and Vic Black on the disabled list and Jenrry Mejia is serving an 80-game PED suspension. Josh Edgin was lost to Tommy John surgery in spring training.
