With NL East title secured, Mets sweep Reds behind deGrom

METS 8, REDS 1

CINCINNATI -- Just in case there was any doubt, Jacob deGrom wiped it out Sunday. After a month of mediocre starts, the All-Star right-hander came back on extended rest and dominated the Reds in the Mets 8-1 at the Great American Ball Park.

DeGrom, who was pitching here for the first time since he threw a brilliant inning in the All Star Game, also eliminated any doubt that he should be the Mets' Game 1 starter in the postseason.

Sunday, deGrom allowed one run on five hits.
