The New York Mets might’ve accidentally stumbled into the next way to utilize pitchers. Long gone are the days of the complete game. The multi-inning closer is a thing of the past. For the last, let’s call it 15 years, starting pitchers have seen a reduction in the number of innings they pitch. Relievers are asked to get 3 outs at a time.
