Where ‘kicking the tires’ could lead Mets in the trade market

Modal Trigger

Blake Swihart; Wilson Ramos; Max Stassi

ATLANTA — One week of Jose Lobaton and Tomas Nido sharing catching duties has hardly convinced Mets officials the team is set at that position.

But as team brass is “kicking the tires” on potential trade options, according to a club source, it’s Lobaton and Nido who will have to continue handling the job.

J.T. Realmuto is the sexiest potential trade option, but Mets officials have also gotten the sense the Marlins might want to retain the All-Star catcher given the fact Miami unloaded players such as Giancarlo Stanton, Christian Yelich, Marcell Ozuna and Dee Gordon over the winter.
