What happened to the fearsome Mets offense?

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Talk about an inopportune time for a work stoppage.

The Mets head home having whiffed in the land of barbecue and greeting cards after dropping Game 2 of the World Series to the Royals by a 7-1 count. Down 2-0, they face a virtual must-win Friday night at Citi Field when rookie Noah Syndergaard goes against Kansas City’s Yordano Ventura in Game 3.

“I think we’d really like to win that ballgame at home,” Daniel Murphy said.

Remember Murphy? He was the toast of the town about three days ago, having homered in six straight postseason games to set a baseball record.
