Mets C Travis d'Arnaud will have Tommy John surgery next week to repair the torn UCL in his right elbow, it was announced Friday. The surgery will almost certainly end his season.
Along with d'Arnaud, the Mets are without C Kevin Plawecki, who is expected to miss two-to-three weeks due to a hairline fracture to his left hand.
To replace d'Arnaud and Plawecki on the roster, the Mets have called up Double-A Binghamton catcher Tomas Nido and Triple-A Las Vegas catcher Jose Lobaton. D'Arnaud was transferred to the 60-day DL to make room for Lobaton on the 40-man roster.
