Travis d’Arnaud will move across the country for his second chance.
The Dodgers signed the former Mets catcher to a one-year deal and optioned rookie infielder Matt Beaty to Triple-A Oklahoma City. D’Arnaud was released by the Mets on Friday.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said d’Arnaud will be the third catcher, a right-handed bat off the bench and can be used at other positions.
D’Arnaud. who spent seven seasons with the Mets, was hitting .087 with two RBIs this year in 23 at-bats following Tommy John surgery. He is a career .242 hitter.
