Tom Brady denied ‘Tom Terrific’ trademark

Tom Brady will never be “Terrific.”

The United States Patent and Trademark Office on Thursday denied the Patriots quarterback’s application to trademark the term “Tom Terrific,” according to ESPN. Mets fans were outraged when it leaked out that Brady was applying for the moniker most commonly associated with Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Seaver.

The USPTO agreed.

“The applied-for mark consists of or includes matter which may falsely suggest a connection with Tom Seaver,” the organization said in a statement.

Brady claimed he was trying to trademark the nickname to stop people from using it in connection with him.
