Today’s Mets game suspended due to rain

The Mets’ afternoon game against the Marlins today was suspended due to a steady rain, continuing the Mets stop-and-start stretch to begin to the 2021 campaign. The game will be made up as a part of a split doubleheader on August 31st, according to the team. The first game of the doubleheader will be a full nine inning game, with the second game following the seven inning rules that date back to last season.

The game, which started amidst an already steady rainfall, saw starter Marcus Stroman surrender a lead off single to Corey Dickerson, and get Starling Marte to fly out, before rather obviously unplayable conditions forced the umpires to call for the tarp.
